Fees

Local applicants

Master of Nursing Science students who are Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) with subsidised tuition fees. Full fee-paying places are not available to local students.

Course fees are reviewed annually and may be tax deductible if they are work related. Applicants are advised to contact a taxation agent regarding their specific circumstances.

Assistance with fees

HECS-HELP is a government loan scheme for local students. More information can be found on the Department of Education, Science and Training's Going to Uni website.

Austudy and Youth Allowance

The eligibility for Youth Allowance and Austudy has been extended to students undertaking approved Commonwealth funded masters by coursework degrees. This includes students who are enrolled in the Master of Nursing Science. Please see the University's Financial Aid site for further information about Austudy and Youth Allowance.

Other costs

Uniform

As a Master of Nursing Science student you will be required to wear a uniform while on clinical placement. The uniform is as follows:

  • Student ID as name tag (a card holder will be provided)
  • Closed-toe, rubber-soled navy blue or black shoes
  • Navy blue trousers
  • Navy blue polo shirts with the University logo (available from the Union Shop)

Equipment

You will need your own stethoscope and a watch with a second hand. You may also wish to purchase items such as goggles and a pen torch. Advice will be given about equipment at orientation.

Books

It is recommended that you purchase the prescribed books for each subject as they are constantly referred to throughout the course. Limited copies are available for loan from the University Library.

You will receive a list of prescribed books at enrolment.

Police record check

There is a fee associated with police record checks. Application fees change every year on 1 July. Please check the Victoria Police website for further information.

First aid course fee

All students must provide evidence of completion of a Level 2 First Aid course by the commencement of their second semester of study. There may be a fee associated with a first aid course. Please contact your course provider for further information.
